In February, we hosted a Leadwork Roofing Workshop, delivered in partnership with the North East Roofing Training Group, funded by CITB.
This hands-on training course took place over five days and was designed to provide essential skills for individuals in the roofing industry.
The workshop focused on two of the most commonly used techniques in lead roofing and these fundamental skills form the foundation of quality leadwork and are essential for anyone looking to advance in the trade.
Participants gained practical experience in:
- Bossing: A technique used to shape and form lead, ensuring it fits perfectly to various roof details. Mastering bossing allows leadworkers to manipulate lead sheets without the need for joints, resulting in a more durable and aesthetically pleasing finish.
- Welding: This part of the course will teach participants the necessary techniques to achieve a high standard of lead welding, a critical skill for fixing lead securely and ensuring long-lasting, watertight joints.
Led by experienced professionals, the course provided a supportive learning environment where attendees refined their skills under expert guidance.
